Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt's annual headline inflation rate recorded 6.1% in July, compared to 5.3% a month earlier and 4.6% in July 2020, according to data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The consumer price index (CPI) reached 114.4 points last month, rising by 1% month-on-month (MoM), the CAPMAS said in a statement on Tuesday.
The rise in inflation rate was ascribed to higher prices of dairy products, cheese, and eggs by 2.2%, meat and poultry by 1.2%, vegetables by 1.1%, and tobacco by 1.7%.
In addition, prices of electricity, gas, and other fuel grew by 8.9%, tourist tours by 6.9%, and personal hygiene products by 1.2%.
On the other hand, the prices of fruits decreased by 3.4%.
